Short Mat Players Tour
This coming weekend will see the conclusion of the Short Mat Players Tour season with the World Masters event at the Belfast Indoor Bowling Club.
192 bowlers will take part in the event representing Ireland, England, Wales, Scotland, Sweden, Belgium, Canada, Cyprus and the Isle of Man.
Nigel Nicholls (Newlyn Trinity) goes into the event in 4th place in the SMPT World Rankings and 8th in the this seasons Order of Merit standings. Nigel is drawn in Group One where he faces Cennydd Howell (WAL), Karol Bradshaw (IRE), Scott White (SCO), Edward Sawbridge (ENG) and Glenn Harvey (IRE). Group 1 stats can be viewed here.
Caroline Trubshaw (Duloe) is drawn in Group Three where she faces Roay Niblock (ENG), Paul Hutson (ENG), Alan Evans (WAL), Martin McNicholl (IRE) and Ian McElroy (IRE). Group 3 stats can be viewed here.
Elise Daniell (Holmans) is drawn in Group Four where she faces Ian Hobson (IRE), Finbar Maguire (IRE), Jorgen Sundberg (SWE), Trevor Tymon (ENG) and Paul Duff (IRE). Group 4 stats can be viewed here.
Mark Slack (Duloe) is drawn in Group Five where he faces Mark Granleese (IRE), Chris McIlmoyle (IRE), Andy Howard (IRE), Suzanne Steele (BEL) and Charlie Clark (IRE). Group 5 stats can be viewed here.
Alan Trushaw (Duloe) is drawn in Group Six where he faces David Hall (ENG), Dave Bignall (ENG), Sean Breslin (IRE), Vince Arnold (WAL) and Paddy McElvaney (IRE). Group 6 stats can be viewed here.
Peter Hore (Holmans) is drawn in Group Eight where he will face David McCullough (IRE), Johan Bleus (BEL), Antony Mills (WAL), Emil Wylie (IRE) and Andrew Leckey (IRE). Group 8 stats can be viewed here.
David Studden (Holmans) is drawn in Group Eleven where he faces Nigel Graham (IRE), Darren Brown (ENG), Sioned Ann Owen-Braniff (WAL), Darren Mullarkey (IRE) and Jonas Hager (SWE). Group 12 stats can be viewed here.
Ian Crossett (Saltash Kernow) is drawn in Group Twenty where he faces Alastair Ritchie (SCO), Aaron Ward (IRE), P.J. Gallagher (IRE), Derek McCann (IRE) and Mark Hamilton (IRE). Group 20 stats can be viewed here.
The event takes the usual format with four out of five group games played on Saturday and the final group game and knockout stages played on Sunday. The top 2 from each group go into the Main Competition, 3rd and 4th go into the Plate Competition and 5th and 6th go into the Shield.

Before the weekends main event 96 pairs will take part in the Belfast Open Pairs on Friday afternoon into the evening.
David Studden has teamed up with Simon Pridham (Cyprus) for the event and is drawn in Group Eight. Alan & Caroline Trubshaw are drawn in Group Twelve. Elise Daniell teams up with Keith Lackford (West Yorkshire) and they are drawn in Group 20. Nigel Nicholls is paired with Paul Seaman (East Sussex). Peter Hore teams up with Jonas Häger (Sweden).
